The Information We Collect

Ask a Lender collects personal information from individuals and companies that register with us to provide information about their lending programs for our search engines, to blog, to post a lender review and/or to display a profile. This information includes, but is not limited to, business names, telephone numbers, websites, addresses, photographs, and passwords (to log into the site).

We collect personal information from borrowers and other users who elect to create an account and/or request that askalender.com match them with a lender. This information includes, but is not limited to, names, telephone numbers, email addresses, passwords (to log into the site), and details of loan requests, such as property types, FICO ranges, and locations of the borrower and properties. Non-personally identifiable information described in the next paragraph also will be associated with a borrower’s personal information when using askalender.com.

Ask a Lender uses cookie and web beacon technology to gather anonymous internet-related information, including but not limited to, data input, navigation on the website, time visiting the website, the type of device used to access the website, location, the IP address and the like. Browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, let you delete cookies and choose what types of cookies you want to allow on your computer. Information that you choose to provide in a public area of the website (such as our blogs and lender reviews) will not be protected by this Privacy Policy because you have chosen to make that information public.

  2. Facilitate communication between borrowers and lenders;
  3. Administer accounts;
  4. Provide customer service;
  5. Improve, monitor and measure the website;
  6. Market products and services;
  7. Communicate with site users about services and products;
  8. Research and analyze the lending industry;
  9. Comply with law enforcement and legal process; and/or;
  10. Verify eligibility to use the site.

Ask a Lender retains the information submitted and collected for as long as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and to enforce agreements. User names, email addresses and phone numbers are saved in an encrypted database behind firewall technology. Ask a Lender may be required by law to store your personal information in our database for a period of time. In order to comply, Ask a Lender may be unable to delete your information from our database until the applicable time period has passed.

Ask a Lender will only share your personal information with your consent or as necessary to provide you the services requested. You consent to be contacted by these parties by telephone, email, mail, text (SMS) messaging, fax, or other reasonable means at any of the residential, cell or fax phone numbers or addresses you provide, even if they are listed on a national "do not call" or “do not contact” list. You agree that these communications may include prerecorded marketing messages. You agree that these parties may contact you for the purposes of providing the products or services you have requested, marketing, addressing complaints, billing or other account-related matters, or other purposes reasonably related to the services you have requested. Your consent to receive marketing communications is not required as a condition of purchasing any goods or services.

The borrower’s information is transmitted to Ask a Lender using SSL technology, which is a secure and encrypted connection between the borrower’s browser and our server(s). The borrower’s loan request and contact information is emailed to the selected lender(s), who also agreed to this Privacy Policy as incorporated into the Terms of Use. Ask a Lender does not do a hard inquiry into a borrower’s credit. Lenders have their own privacy policies governing the use of any information submitted by a borrower. Borrowers can notify the lender if the borrowers do not wish to receive further communication from them.

If at any time the borrower does not want to receive further communication from Ask a Lender, the borrower can edit the account settings on the askalender.com site.

Notice to California Residents: Ask a Lender is not a financial institution for purposes of the California Financial Information Privacy Act.

Any user may choose not to share personal information with Ask a Lender. However, that may result in the inability to use certain features and services on the website. Sharing personal information with Ask a Lender is not required to receive services or products from Ask a Lender.
