Ask a Lender is a unique online platform that uses powerful lender-matching technology to connect borrowers and lenders across a variety of loan types. Ask a Lender also provides financial information that helps people make informed borrowing decisions. There is no cost for lenders or borrowers to be part of Ask a Lender.

Why should I use Ask a Lender?

How much does Ask a Lender cost?

Nothing. It’s free for both borrowers and lenders to get started on Ask a Lender. Lenders can create a profile and enter their loan programs at no cost. We offer premium services to help lenders rank higher in search results and get even more leads. What is the cost per borrower lead?

Nothing. It’s always free for borrowers to contact you.

When a user performs a lender search, they’re presented with the profiles of all the lenders that match their loan scenario. From there, the user can choose to request a rate quote, or they can email or call a lender directly. This doesn’t cost the lender a penny. Whether you get one call or 100, you don’t owe us anything.

Getting Started

How does Ask a Lender work?

Ask a Lender offers various lender searches that connect borrowers with lenders. Here’s how it works:

  1. You complete your profile and enter your loan programs.
  2. Borrowers search loan programs.
  3. If you’re a match, you appear in search results.
  4. Borrowers select lenders and request rate quotes.
  5. You get quality leads. The rest is up to you.
How do I enter or update my loan programs?

From your account dashboard, under the “Account” header, click on “Loan Programs.” To add a new loan program, click the green button that says “Create New Program.”

Loan programs that you have already entered, and which appear on your profile, are listed under the “Active Programs” header. You can view, edit, duplicate, delete or print any of your active loan programs. For more help entering or editing your loan programs, click the “Help” tab in the upper right-hand corner of the Loan Programs page.

When will I start getting leads?

As soon as you enter your loan programs, you could start getting leads immediately.

How will I know when someone contacts me or requests a rate quote?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Privacy & Notifications.”

If you would like to receive email notifications when someone contacts you through Ask a Lender or requests a rate quote, make sure “Yes” is selected on the line that says, “Receive emails when customers contact you or request rate quotes.” To turn off email notifications, select “No.” After making your selection, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.

Ranking Higher

How can I rank higher in search results?

Ask a Lender offers a variety of ways — both paid and free — to rank higher in search results. Blogging will help you rank higher in searches for free. We also offer premium services that can help you rank higher. If you become verified, your profile will appear above all non-verified profiles. You can also buy-up or purchase a guaranteed spot to elevate your ranking.

Can I get the No. 1 position in a search?

How do I get my blog post recommended?

Blogging is a great way to increase your exposure on Ask a Lender, and getting your post recommended amplifies your presence even more. There’s no guaranteed way to get your post recommended, but there are some steps you can take to increase your chances. Learn more here.

How do I change my profile information?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Profile Information.” You will be taken to a page that displays your profile information, including your account information, profile image, website and social media links, lending territory, about section, and languages. Click on a section to edit its content and click “Save” when you’re done.

How do I publish a blog post?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Blog” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Write New Post.”

Fill out all the required fields, including the title, body text, section, topic, and keywords fields. Consider adding summary text or an image, although both are optional. When finished, click one of the buttons at the bottom of the page — “Save as Draft,” “Preview” or “Publish.”

How do I reply to reviews?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Reviews.”

Any reviews posted to your profile will be displayed. To reply to one, click on the “Reply” button in the bottom righthand corner of the review.

You may reply once to each review. Neither reviews nor replies may be edited after they have been posted.

How do I know when someone reviews me?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Privacy & Notifications.”

If you would like to receive email notifications when someone reviews you on Ask a Lender, make sure “Yes” is selected on the line that says, “Receive emails when customers review you.” To turn off email notifications, select “No.” After making your selection, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.

How do I request reviews from my clients?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Reviews.”

In the upper right-hand corner of the page, click on “Request Reviews.” Enter the email address of the person you’d like to request a review from. You may enter up to nine additional email address by clicking the plus-sign icon underneath the email address field. When you’ve entered all the email addresses, hit the “Send” button.

How do I change my password?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Password.” Enter your current password and your new password, then click the “Save” button.

Corporate Profiles: How do I add or remove a link between my corporate profile and an employee?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Employees.”

A list of employees connected to your company’s profile will be displayed. To remove an employee, click on the “Remove” button to the right of the employee you’d like to remove.

To add an employee, click on the green “Add Employee” button. Enter the employee’s first and last name, and the name of their company, if applicable. Hit the “Search” button, and find the employee among the search results. When you find the correct employee, hit the “Add” button.

Individual Profiles: How do I add or remove a link between my profile and my employer’s corporate profile?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “My Company.”

If you have already been added as an employee of a company, you will see it listed on the “My Company” page. To remove the company from your profile, click the “Remove Link” button.

If you would like to link your profile to your company’s profile, contact the administrator of your company’s profile and ask them to add you. If you do not know the administrator of your company’s profile, use the contact button on the company profile to send your request.

How do I disable my profile?

After you’ve logged in, click on “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the page. In the dropdown menu, click on “Privacy & Notifications.” On the line that says “Disable your profile,” select “Yes,” then hit the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.

Disabling your profile will hide it from public view. Your loan programs will no longer be searchable, but your published blog posts will remain visible.
